Passion flower is a natural remedy for anxiety and insomnia.
Recent research verifies that standardized Passion Flower extract reduces anxiety and promotes a positive outlook. Passion Flower may also reduce anxiety-related discomfort caused by opiate and sedative withdrawal. It is used in popular medicine and in modern phytotherapy as anti-spastic for the sooth muscles that cover inner organs, and also as a sedative for the Central nervous system. Its main pharmacological actions are linked to flavonoids inside aerial parts of the plant. It is a good anxiolytic: alkaloids have showed to have affinity for central receptors of benzodiazepines.
