Lit-Control pH Balance contains five active ingredients that help prevent the formation of kidney stones:

Phytic acid salt (calcium-magnesium), grape seed extract, magnesium, zinc, and vitamin A
• The phytic acid salt of calcium and magnesium (also known as phytin) is a well-known inhibitor of calcification.
It strongly inhibits the formation of calcium oxalate and calcium phosphate crystals, due to the high affinity of its phosphate groups for calcium.
• Grape seed extract is rich in polyphenols, which are known for their powerful antioxidant activity and have been shown to act as inhibitors of stone formation.
• Polyphenols help reduce tissue damage in the kidneys caused by oxidative stress, thereby preventing tissue calcification as well as the formation and growth of stones in the renal papillae.
• Magnesium is also a crystallization inhibitor, as it competes with calcium for the absorption of oxalates, with the added benefit of forming more soluble complexes that do not crystallize or form kidney stones.
• In addition, both zinc and vitamin A enhance the action of phytic acid salt:
– Zinc increases its affinity for calcium phosphate
– Vitamin A prevents its breakdown by alkaline phosphatase
Zinc also contributes to the normal amino acid balance in the body, a health claim approved by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA).
Furthermore, vitamin A has been shown to promote the dissolution of calcium oxalate stones.
