Everything you need to know about your complexion for a healthy summer!
Just like you, your skin is unique and needs specialized protection and care to keep it healthy and shiny, like you! If you're not sure what kind of type you are, we're here to help you. To identify your skin type, it is advisable to think about your skin’s sight, at different phases of the day.
Specifically:
- Normal skin
You wake up in the morning and your skin looks healthy, smooth, and soft, with thin pores and rose color, with very little oil on the facial T zone (the middle of the forehead, nose, and chin).
After the morning cleansing, the feeling remains light and normal skin receives any moisturizer pleasantly. A normal skin rarely glosses and, if it shows greasiness, will be little and only on the T zone.
- Dry skin
Everyday awakening is accompanied by an image of dull and dehydrated skin, which does not improve after the first face wash with a mild cleanser but, on the contrary, creates an unpleasant feeling of "stretching". The skin lacks moisture and oil, so it is less elastic, tight, and often tends to feel itchy. The skin may not gloss at all during the day, but it seems constantly dehydrated and creates the need to apply moisturizers with rich textures and oils all the time, which, in the first seconds of application tingle, but then cause the feeling of relief.
Care products with natural oils relieve the skin while a good serum is the ideal complement of hydration. Day creams with sun protection offer a shield to the skin from ultraviolet radiation while, a healthy diet, with the consumption of 2 liters of water per day, provides extra help to your skin!
Oily skin
A look in the mirror makes you wonder why your face glosses so much, especially in the T zone. Even after a good morning cleansing, the oiliness returns persistently, accompanying you during the day -many times, by overriding your makeup, which seems to recede from the oiliness.
The production of more sebum -that may be due to genetic predisposition, stress, and hormonal disorders- is what causes the skin to show large pores, gloss, black spots, and oiliness. Special care products can restore the natural balance of the skin, while a matte moisturizing cream reduces the annoying gloss of the face.
Oily skin needs weekly treatment with gentle exfoliation and face mask, while it is considered of high priority to remove makeup in the evening because it blocks pores during the night.
- Mixed skin
The combination of normal to dry and oily skin, shows oiliness in the T-zone, while the cheeks remain normal to dry. In pharmacies, you can choose a care product specifically for this type of skin that restores the moisture balance of the skin. It is advised to thoroughly clean the face before applying a product, thoroughly wash the skin with lukewarm water, and regularly use a moisturizing face cream-a quantity the size of hazelnut is enough!
In general, experts recommend not to apply too much cream on the face, but to apply as much as the skin really needs or as indicated in the instruction manual. Still, it is good not to use the same products for a long time, as more effective compositions are created that are worth investing in. Finally, the slight tingling, itching, or redness that occurs when you apply a product does not always mean that its composition is poor: if the symptoms subside within a few minutes, then the product works properly.
What about sun protection according to skin type?
We will not stop saying about the need to protect your skin from sunlight. Especially if your skin is very sensitive and easily burned, you need a wide spectrum sunscreen with a high SPF 50 while a sunscreen with SPF 8-15 is satisfactory for darker skins.
For dry skins, a sunscreen with moisturizing ingredients in the form of an alcohol-free cream or emulsion - that dehydrates and irritates the skin - is the most suitable.
A sunscreen with a light composition and thin texture such as lotion oil-free or spray, non-comedogenic, with SPF 30-50 index is ideal for oily skins that need sun protection, so as not to activate the sebaceous glands.
Finally, some tips for body sunscreens, which are just as important as those for the face:
- use an emulsion when you want to monitor the absorption level, as well as the surface where the product has been placed, so as not to leave any uncovered spots.
- You can prefer propellant sprays that make it easier to apply for protection in places we do not reach on your own or do not see i.e., your back, for guaranteed result.
Have a nice summer!
