Everything you need to know about cellulite and its treatment!

Everything you need to know about cellulite and its treatment!

In the female's beauty Bible, the "Cellulite" chapter is one of the highest importance! That is why, every year, women all over the world are thrown into the battle against the "orange peel" effect that grows on their bodies.

What is cellulite, which afflicts women in the overwhelming percentage of 90%?

Cellulite is considered an aesthetic problem, due to several factors, and it's related to the emerge of fat, which is pushed through the connective tissue fibers under the skin, and which has a tendency to harden. Skin loses its elasticity and firmness, and the surface looks like an orange peel. Connective tissue is weakened due to hormones, incomplete physical exertion, excess fat, and poor blood circulation.

It is important to emphasize that cellulite is not a disease, but a physiological condition that is due to the physiology and structure of the skin. Also, cellulite is not associated with fluid retention, which is a symptom that usually stops quickly and without much effort, as the body eliminates it on its own. Fluid retention -unlike cellulite which is chronic and does not subside on its own – is linked to other factors, e.g., excessive consumption of salt, which as soon as it stops, leads to its elimination.

Cellulite is usually seen on the thighs, hips, buttocks, abdomen, calves, arms and can form after puberty, while with the passage of time it increases as the elasticity of the skin decreases. Interesting as it is, either obese or at normal kilos, all women can have cellulite while men, in a very small percentage though, may experience cellulite on the abdomen.

What factors trigger the appearance of cellulite?

Our daily diet is usually the first to blame for the growth of cellulite, which is why dermatologists initially recommend avoiding foods that contain sugar, saturated fat, carbohydrates, caffeine, alcohol, soft drinks, and salt.

Also, incomplete physical exercise, combined with obesity or excess kilograms favors its formation.

Heredity is another factor in the emergence of cellulite as well as some hormonal disorders (such as those during pregnancy or menopause).

Cellulite’ s emerge is carried out in three stages:

Stage 1: skin is smooth in every position (upright or supine) but shows small wrinkles when pressed.

Stage 2: in the supine position skin is smooth, but when upright, local swellings emerge, wrinkles are more obvious and the "orange peel" is distinguished. That is due to the reduced blood supply that does not allow oxygen supply, and thus the substances that need to be excreted are not eliminated.

Stage 3: cellulite is evident in every position, at this stage, regardless of what pressure is put on the tissue, while there may be pain during palpation.

Can cellulite be cured?

When cellulite is at an early stage, it can be prevented or even enhanced in natural ways. Performing a combination of actions, we can deal with this aesthetic problem by yourselves, at home.

Firstly, you should radically change your diet and turn to the benefits of Mediterranean nutrition, which ensures the body's weight balance and all the necessary energy for the harmonious functioning of the human body. Fruits, vegetables, fish, nuts, are the ingredients that must be included in your diet, with the simultaneous removal of saturated fat. Furthermore, consumption of water, restriction of soft drinks, alcohol, and caffeinated beverages, a drastic reduction of sugar, and the cessation of smoking, benefit the body and keep it healthy, with no fat and cellulite.

It is also advisable to include gymnastics in your daily routine, as exercise improves blood circulation and fat burning. Integrate a daily 30-minute aerobic program, walk or run, and emphasize the exercises that stimulate the blood circulation of the legs.

Massaging is another way to stimulate blood circulation in the affected areas. By the use of special anticellulite products, you can create the necessary blood perspiration, while you can get the same effect with a loofah and an exfoliating product if, during your daily shower, rub locally the problematic area, stimulating blood circulation and removing dead cells.
